Originally from Mauricie, Mélanie Bédard has been firmly rooted in Saint-Hyacinthe–Bagot–Acton since 2006. She is a candidate for the Liberal Party of Canada with a clear objective: to bring the needs and aspirations of our beautiful region to Ottawa. Deeply rooted in and connected to our community, she is driven by a sincere desire to help build a fairer, greener and more prosperous future for all.

As the mother of two grown children, she understands the importance of building a strong future today for generations to come. It is them — and all the young people here — who will inherit the choices we make now.

A graduate in landscape and ornamental horticulture from ITAQ, she has a strong attachment to this place. She knows the value of our land, the strength of our families and the importance of the hard work of those who bring life to our region. Saint-Hyacinthe–Bagot–Acton is a rich, nourishing land and the heart of our regional identity. Our farmers, producers and agri-food companies are essential to our economy and our food security.

Mélanie was a production manager in a garden centre before becoming a key account manager for a Canadian producer and distributor.

Since 2021, she has been proud to represent the citizens of District 3 Saint-Joseph as a municipal councillor in Saint-Hyacinthe. She also serves on several committees, including the comité consultatif en développement durable, the Commission permanente de la Famille de la MRC and the comité d’embellissement.

She is a grassroots woman, deeply connected to the farming, family, and entrepreneurial worlds — realities that reflect those of most voters here. She invests herself with heart and passion. She enjoys meeting people, talking with them, but above all, listening so she can act more effectively.

As a Liberal candidate, she is now committed to working with Mark Carney to invest in a strong economy that benefits everyone, to protect the environment and to keep Canada moving forward. Now is the time to build the future together. Because we are strong, a strong Canada.
